Meeting to take place with Professor from Italy
Within the framework of the Armenian-Italian joint project "Developing an Armenian research evaluation system based on a bibliometric approach", Professor Andrea D'Angelo from Italy's Tor Vergata University will visit Armenia from October 16-20 of this year.
On October 18 at 3:00 PM, a meeting will take place at the Committee of Higher Education and Science between Professor D'Angelo and the Armenian representative, Shushanik Sargsyan, Head of the Center for Scientific Information Analysis and Monitoring of IIAP NAS RA.
During the meeting, the results of the Armenian-Italian project's study, which concerns the evaluation of the effectiveness of Armenian universities and scientific organizations, will be presented. The assessment is based on the new Fractional Scientific Strength (FSS) indicator developed by Italian scientists Giovanni Abramo and Andrea D'Angelo, which is applicable in the STEM field.
Using the FSS indicator, the research productivity of Armenian universities and scientific organizations has been evaluated at individual, research area, and institutional levels. A ranking of Armenian universities based on research productivity has been formed; weak and strong research areas have been identified, and the possibility of applying the indicator to assess the ranking of higher education systems of countries other than Italy and Norway has been tested.
