Consolidator Grant for Research Units

The Higher Education and Science Committee of the Republic of Armenia announces a Call for Proposals named “Consolidator Grant for Research Units — 2024,” which aims to strengthen and develop existing research units in modern and prospective research areas.

An eligible research unit shall operate within a public organization carrying out a program under the baseline funding scheme for scientific and technical activities of the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia.

The objectives of the Call are as follows:

-       To promote domestic and international cooperation;

-       to develop the research and technical potential of a research organization;

-       to attract the research potential of the diaspora and abroad;

-       to attract young researchers and postgraduate students;

-       to contribute to the integration of young researchers into the international research environment;

-       to improve the scientific environment;

-       to strengthen new, competitive, and promising scientific units;

-       to promote competitive conditions in science.

Grants of up to 60 months will be awarded competitively to Research Groups of 4-7 members, including a Principal Investigator (PI) and Group Members. Projects in any field of scientific activities are eligible.

The Group Members can be both the RA citizens and foreign citizens. However, they must reside in the Republic of Armenia during the whole implementation of the Project.

The application is submitted by the PI, who shall:

  • Be born after January 1, 1974;

  • Hold a scientific degree;

  • Hold the position of Head of the Unit for at least six months at the organization as of July 26, 2024 (the application submission deadline).

At least two Group Members must have been born after January 1, 1989, and can be students in at least their third year of undergraduate studies.

The Group must include a Foreign Partner (Collaborator).

Applications for participation must be submitted through the Committee's online application and reporting system at https://grants.hesc.am.

Please note that online submission will be available from July 5, 2024.

The online application deadline is July 26, 2024. Funding is expected to start in November 2024.
