The negotiations on Armenia’s association to the “Horizon Europe” completed successfully
On 16 September, 2021 Armenia and the European Union have successfully completed the negotiations on Armenia’s association to the “Horizon Europe - the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation” programme. The Armenian and the EU delegations were led respectively by the Chairman of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia Mr. Sargis Hayotsyan and the Deputy Director General of DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission Ms. Signe Ratso.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed on the Association Agreement with both sides expressing hope that the internal procedures of signing and ratifying the Agreement would be completed within the set time frames.
By joining the above-mentioned programme, the Republic of Armenia will contribute to the development of the scientific potential in Armenia, providing multiple opportunities for the scientific community to participate in various grant initiatives.
“Horizon Europe - the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation” is the largest EU-funded scientific cooperation programme (95,5 bln Euros). It came to replace the “Horizon 2020” programme, in which Armenia had successfully participated in 2016-2020.
