International Conference and Exhibition launched at Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute

On September 18, a three-day international conference entitled “Concentration Camps during the Years of the Armenian Genocide: The Road to Death” was launched in the conference hall of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. The conference’s opening ceremony was followed by the opening of the temporary exhibition entitled “The Road to Death: Armenian Genocide in Fine Art”.

Showcasing the process and the consequences of the forced deportation of Armenians, this exhibition presents the works of both world-famous and relatively little-known artists kept in the collection of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. In total, 33 works of 26 artists are presented in the exhibition, of which 19 are paintings and 14 are graphic works. Among the artists whose works are displayed in the exhibitions are Gero Dada (Hungary), Konstantin Istomin (Russia), Jean-Louis Foran (France), famous French artist of Armenian origin Zhansem (Hovhannes Semerdjian), Istanbul Armenian Asilva (Silva Arakelyan), Lebanese Armenians Raffi Tokatlyan and Raffi Etalean, Belgian Armenian Samvel Aslanyan, French Armenian Jean-Pierre (Harutyun-Petros) Seferyan, People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR Suren Safaryan.

The international conference and the temporary exhibition are organized with the financial support of the Armenian Evangelical Association of America and the Higher Education and Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia.

The exhibition will run until April 20, 2024.
