Armenia and Italy launch First Joint Call
On 25 January 2019, Samvel Haroutiunian, Chairman of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia hosted the delegation of the National Research Council of the Italian Republic headed by Massimo Inguscio, President of the National Research Council.
The meeting was aimed at signing the Cooperation Programme within the frames of the Memorandum of Understanding on Scientific and Technological Cooperation signed on the 31st of July 2018 between the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia and the National Research Council of the Italian Republic.
Samvel Haroutiunian introduced the functions of the Science Committee, signed agreements and memoranda, the main joint projects carried out by Armenian and foreign scientists.
He also mentioned that both Armenian and Italian scientists already have cooperation experience: individual and inter-institutional programmes, as well as programmes in the frames of agreements with Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics Network (ICRANet).
What refers to the main research areas of the cooperation, S. Haroutiunian noted that a number of fields, such as Theoretical Physics, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Archaeology, Food Safety, are highly developed in the Republic of Armenia. In order to get detailed information about the above mentioned fields, S. Haroutiunian suggested making visits to different scientific organizations and research centers.
According to the Cooperation Programme the Parties agreed to promote the cooperation between Armenian and Italian researchers and research centers through rendering assistance to the realization of Joint research projects. Both Parties will support up to 5 joint research projects each with the duration of 2 years.
The first call for proposals is expected to be announced in March 2019.
